Stop thinking about "efficiency"

If a piece of code is faster than another, say it's "faster." Don't say it's "more efficient." There are many different types of efficiency. It might be more memory efficient, or in use of disk space.

Besides "faster" is shorter, and therefore more efficient to read.

How much do you pay per hour for processor time? How much for programmer time? Is a few extra clock cycles saved of processor time worth more than a programmer spending any amount of time trying to figure out what you're doing?
